Office Chair Posture

by Rita
(Sussex, England)

First of all, you HAVE to have a decent office chair that has three things. Height adjustment so your forearms will be parallel to the floor as you work. Plus adjustable arm rests for the same reason. And a back with lumbar support.

You wouldn't think of walking all day on wobbly, uncomfortable shoes, so why sit like this?

When you work, focus on two things. The soles of your feet should be flat on the floor. This will prevent you from slouching as well as require a certain tone to your stomach and back muscles. At the same time, keep your butt and low back snugly fitted into the chair's seat and lumbar cushions. It should fit you like your most comfortable pair of shoes.
