Neck Exercises

by Samantha
(Oklahoma)

Let's face it, between the telephone and our stressful lifestyles, the neck and shoulders carry a lot of tension. I do two neck and shoulder exercises whenever I feel the tightness coming on.

First, I simply tilt my head slowly to one side, hold it, then gently roll my head in a circle until I return to the starting position. Then I reverse direction. Do this a few times in a row as needed.

Second, I shrug my shoulders upward to try to touch my ears with my shoulder tips. Then I roll my shoulder tips around in a circle, first forward and then backward. Almost like swimming except you keep your arms at your sides.

Of course, you could then also extend your arms like you were swimming, but be sure to watch who's nearby so you don't whack them!

These really help me.
